Ive also thought about shopping for new bushings that fit the car and have the proper i.d. I cannot get the proper "dimple" or "cup" on them where they clamp the bushings. ![]() I have considered making my own shackles which shouldnt be to hard but they would have to be flat. Can anyone help me out please? I honestly have no idea what the proper fix is for this. The shackle bolt is to big to fit through the poly bushings!!!! I would install the bushings that came in the kit but they appear to be to long and possibly the wrong diameter. After a long enough battle I stepped back and did some measuring. i trired and tried but could not get the shackle bolt through the bushing in the frame even with grease on it. well i go to install the shackle bolt and struggled and struggled. My first step was to install the new shackle starting at the framerail (top shackle bolt) I was planning on reusing the poly bushings because for some reason the replacement bushings that came in the kit appear to be to long and possibly to small in diameter. The car just had new monoleafs and poly frame and leaf spring bushings installed. I yanked out the diy shackles and started the reinstall. I popped the hacked together rearend out of it this morning. ![]() i have the rear end ready to install and purchased new replacement shackles. I located a 10 bolt from a 67, cleaned it up installed new seals etc. Anyone that has read some of my posts over the past several months may remember the story of my 65 I bought that had a cobbled rearend in the car complete with home made shackles.
